Burnley College and UCLAN Relocation Project

Construction of a new campus for Burnley College on a sloping brownfield site close to the centre of Burnley.


Main duties whilst working on the project included the production of a fully coordinated master construction programme aligned to the key subcontract packages. Development of the procurement programme directly linked to the main construction programme to ensure package buying is in line with the construction programme. Monitoring of site progress and subsequent programme amendments to maintain the client’s handover date. .

Wigan Grand Arcade Shopping Centre

Excess of £50 million


Major shopping centre redevelopment consisting of 42 shop units with Debenhams as the key anchor tenant complete with multi-storey car park. The project represented a catalyst for the regeneration of Wigan Town Centre.


The following programming functions played a vital role in completing the construction of the shopping centre on time. Development of the master construction programme in line with the progress of the project. Production of the client and main contractor monthly progress reports. Assessment of progress and subsequent production of short term target programmes. Sectional completion programmes in line with tenant fit out periods. Production of a snagging database to sign off shop units prior to tenant handover.

Williamson Square, Liverpool L1

Key project as part of the public realm regeneration for the 2008 City of Culture celebrations in Liverpool. The project consisted of the replacement of 10,000m2 of concrete paving with imported Chinese granite paving setts. The surface water system and street lighting networks were also replaced on all of the ten streets. The project feature culminated with the construction of a new water feature fountain within the centre of Williamson Square. This phase was a milestone within the redevelopment of Liverpool because it was one of the first phases to kick start the multimillion pound regeneration of Liverpool City Centre.


Main project duties included detailed daily progress reporting due to the complexity of working across many live retail units. Daily photographic progress recording. Production of an as built programme combined with an analysis of the variations and resultant delays imposed upon the construction project.

Commonwealth Games Swimming Complex, Manchester


Laing Northern


£23 million


Construction of a new 50m Olympic standard swimming pool sited near the University of Manchester. Developed to be used as a key venue for the Manchester commonwealth games. The project consisted of many specialist subcontract packages which all contributed to the success of the project. Once constructed, the pool boasted the record for the largest volume of water in any UK swimming pool.

Preston Temple of the Latter Day Saints


Laing Northern


£30 million


The project consisted of a total of 7 high specification buildings with particularly high standards of quality demanded by the client. The Temple is one of the North West's most recognisable landmarks. It is only the second of its kind to built within the UK. The programming function on the project was critical in delivering the project on time to such a high standard.
